Job Description

Producer | We Can Do Hard Things

Part-Time | In-Person & Remote (Los Angeles) | Start Date: ASAP

We Can Do Hard Things - an award-winning, chart-topping podcast hosted by Glennon Doyle, Abby Wambach, and Amanda Doyle - is expanding its scope, and we’re looking for an experienced Producer to help evolve the show from a top-tier audio series into a fully realized video podcast and multi-platform brand.

With over half a billion plays since it launched as the #1 podcast on Apple, the show has become a cultural touchstone - named among Amazon and Stitcher’s Best Podcasts, winner of two Webby Awards (Best Co-Hosts and Best Individual Health, Wellness & Lifestyle Episode), the Gracie Award for Best Lifestyle Podcast Ensemble, and the iHeartPodcast Award for Best Advice/Inspirational Podcast. It was also selected by Apple Podcasts as the singular Relationship show among their Shows We Love .

This is a hands-on, collaborative role for someone who can confidently capture the voice, rhythm, and soul of We Can Do Hard Things - someone with sharp creative instincts and strong production experience. You’ll be working closely with the hosts to shape smart, culturally resonant conversations and help bring this next chapter of the show to life with care, clarity, and intention - all while running a tight, complex production machine behind the scenes.

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead the weekly production process (2 episodes/week) across video and audio, including:

Pre-Production

  • Support team’s internal producers with episode and guest development, ensuring focus is on events and moments in the zeitgeist that will best fit the show
  • Offer strategic insight and trend foresight to help the podcast evolve, stay culturally relevant, and meet audience needs

Booking Coordination

  • Coordinate all guest booking logistics - including scheduling, calendar updates, liaising with guest teams for tech checks, collecting bios and media assets, and securing release forms

Production

  • Produce all in-person sessions in LA (primarily batch-style, with flex days as needed), as well as remote and live recordings. Oversee the creative and technical execution across all formats in close collaboration with the production team

Editing & Post-Production

  • Work closely with post-production manager on episode edits, ensuring polished audio and video episodes with consistent branding, music, and transitions
  • Prepare and send title options for selection and approval by hosts
  • Copy edit episode title, description, and guest bio

Ad Trafficking & Integration

  • Collaborate with the post-production manager to ensure all video ads are placed accurately and seamlessly within each video episode, in alignment with sales team direction
  • Place audio ad markers at designated insertion points and upload finalized audio ad spots delivered by post-production
  • Traffic ad/sponsor assets to the sales team

Distribution & Delivery

  • Publish and distribute finalized video episodes and associated clips to YouTube, including show notes
  • Publish and distribute finalized audio episode to show’s RSS feed, including show notes
  • Manage Editorial Calendar
  • Send airing details and assets to the guest
  • Track weekly and monthly downloads

Marketing & Social

  • Work closely with the social media manager to develop a detailed social calendar
  • Plan and record buzzy social teasers for new episodes with social manager
  • Stay tapped into what’s trending - politically, culturally, and online - and use that awareness to help shape, script, and record social-first content that promotes the show in timely, resonant, and platform-specific ways
  • Repackage the show’s deep archive to create new social content that resonates and drives engagement
  • Liaise with Apple/Spotify/ etc. to ensure placement features and marketing
  • Submit to podcast awards annually

Manage cross-functional team communication:

  • Act as liaison between hosts, post-production, and social media leads. Own the flow of notes, assets, approvals, and deadlines
  • Ensure a smooth, on-time operation across every part of the production pipeline. Be the go-to person for keeping the train running and solving problems before they arise

Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience producing high-profile podcasts
  • Strong experience producing video podcasts - including multi-cam remote, in-person, and live shoots
  • Deep knowledge of We Can Do Hard Things to ensure every episode reflects the heart, humor, and honesty that listeners have come to trust
  • Experience working directly with on-air talent, shaping conversations and creating a calm, confident production environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills
  • A deep understanding of how to produce content that resonates emotionally and speaks to the cultural moment

This Role Is For Someone Who:

  • Thrives in both creative and operational positions
  • Is proactive, calm under pressure, and able to anticipate needs before they arise
  • Loves working on shows that make a real emotional impact on people’s lives
  • Cares about clarity, intention, heart, and humor in storytelling

This is a major opportunity to join a deeply meaningful show as it transitions to its major next phrase - reaching new audiences across video, social, and beyond.

Submission Guidelines:
