Job Title: Outside Sprinter Sales Consultant

Reports To: Sprinter Manager

SUMMARY

Expands Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio’s Sprinter Van fleet presence in the small business and fleet markets. Responsible for developing new client relationships, nurturing existing accounts on a consistent and regular basis to build a 90-day rolling average of 15-20 vehicle sales per month, and delivering exceptional customer service while representing the prestige and quality of Mercedes-Benz.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Proactively identifies and pursues sales opportunities with small businesses and large national fleet customers by opening five new relationships daily.
  • Works the dealer service lanes to meet current customers, especially those that did not buy their vehicles from the dealership no less than twice per week
  • Conducts on-site visits, presentations, and consultations to understand client needs and recommend the best Sprinter Van solutions.
  • Builds and maintains strong, long-term relationships with business clients.
  • Gains referrals from current clients on a weekly basis.
  • Calls local businesses that utilize commercial vehicles on a weekly basis to include a minimum of 10 face to face appointment calls.
  • Sends at least 5 direct mail pieces per week and following up on direct mail sent within 72 hours.
  • Works with the parts department on deliveries to commercial accounts on a weekly basis and follow up on all deliveries of commercial businesses that are using the parts department but did not buy their vehicles from the dealership.
  • Negotiates pricing, financing, and terms to close deals within dealership guidelines.
  • Explains fully product performance, application, and benefits to prospects.

  • Assists management in staging events to attract commercial customers to include customer appreciation days, product demonstrations, and supplier events.
  • Identified target accounts must be followed up on at least 5 times in a two-month period by:
    • Making additional, in person appointments
    • Telephone
    • Mail
    • E-mail
  • Collaborates with the dealership’s sales, marketing, parts & service teams to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Stays informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and new Mercedes-Benz products.
  • Knows and understands the federal, state, and local laws, which govern retail automobile sales.

  • Meets and exceeds realistic monthly, quarterly & annual sales goals.
  • Assists in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.
  • Completes required all manufacturer’s training in a timely manner.
  • Attends managers and dealership meetings as required.
  • Attends industry and association membership functions as required.
  • Maintains professional appearance.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

One year commercial automotive sales experience and / or one year contractor/vendor sales experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Must be familiar with Word, Excel, and ACT.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common factors, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Must be familiar with financial analysis and the application of financial products.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
