As a Scribe/Medical Assistant at Choice Dermatology, you will play a crucial role in our practice by providing exceptional support to our providers and assisting in the delivery of top-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to, accurately documenting patient encounters, performing basic medical procedures and tests, assisting with administrative tasks, and providing support to other team members as needed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Efficiently document patient encounters in real-time during dermatologist appointments, including chief complaints, medical history, medications, and treatment plans
- Perform basic medical procedures and tests under the direction of a dermatologist
- Assist with minor surgical procedures, including preparing and sterilizing equipment, maintaining a sterile field, and providing post-operative care instructions
- Follow up with patients to ensure understanding of treatment plans and medication instructions
- Maintain electronic medical records and ensure accuracy and completeness of all patient information
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and assist with patient check-in and check-out processes
- Prior authorizations for patient medication
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, including exam rooms and equipment
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and smooth workflow
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or clinical setting, preferably in dermatology
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records
- Proficiency in basic medical procedures and techniques
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours
