Our team is seeking a full-time MEDICAL INTERPRETER at our John Street Clinic. Schedule flexibility--can be 40 hrs, 36 hrs., or 32 hrs. weekly.

ECHO Community Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center that provides quality healthcare to all members of our community, including the insured, uninsured, under-insured and homeless.

We serve a population of approximately 15,000 and provide various clinical and community outreach services at six full-time locations.

Job Summary

Provide language translations/interpretation services for Spanish speaking patients during provider visits, nurse visits, social work visits, phone encounters and for assistance with referral process.

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No nights
• No weekends

Be respectful and responsive to cultural beliefs and practices Possess a non-judgmental attitude and an appreciation for diversity and the value of individual differences in order to provide patients with what they need
• Tolerance – Ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner
• Communication – Effectively communicates both verbally and written to include listening, interpreting and delivering of communication

• High school diploma / GED
• Proven Fluency in English and Spanish
• Authorized to work in the United States
• At least 1 year experience in interpretation/translation, preferably in medical situations & environments
• Knowledge of medical terms in English and Spanish
• Medical Interpreter certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Reliable means to get to work and to/from clinic sites, as may be needed to meet organizational goals
