We are excited to announce an opening for a dedicated Medical Coding and Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team! As a key member of our medical billing department, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing of medical billing and coding in accordance with healthcare regulations. Your contributions will help us efficiently manage patient data and billing processes.

What You'll Do:

Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and gather any missing information to ensure accurate billing.
Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframes, verifying each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts.
Communicate with insurance companies regarding any discrepancies in payments as needed.
Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
Review accounts for necessary patient follow-up related to insurance.
Research and appeal denied claims.
Respond to patient or insurance inquiries related to assigned accounts.
Set up patient payment plans and manage collection accounts.
Update billing software with rate changes as required.
Ensure compliance with insurance and adherence to Department of Health HIPAA guidelines, safeguarding patient confidentiality.
Utilize medical classification software to assign appropriate procedure and diagnosis codes for insurance billing.
Resolve discrepancies in medical documentation and coding, collaborating with medical professionals when necessary.
Prepare detailed reports on billing activity and financial status for senior management.
Qualifications:

Full-time availability.
A minimum of two years of experience in medical billing and coding.
Experience with eClinicalWorks software is a significant advantage.
AACP certification is required.
ICD-10 certification is required.
CPT coding certification is required.
