We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team in Dartmouth, NS.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain accurate patient records and health plan information
Review all medical billings in a timely manner
Review and analyze the accuracy of claims made by other billing services
Work with other billing staff to resolve billing issues and discrepancies
Become the go to person for medical billing and provide follow up and training for the team
Data Entry – input billing information into Med Access EMR system (i.e. creating billing templates)
Authorization review
Prepare and submit electronic and hard copy billing for assigned facilities
Document preparation for appeals
Claims payment research and follow-up
MSI billing inquiries/entries/training
Clear up-to-date notes entry on the progress of all outstanding balances
Posting patient and insurance payments to patient accounts with a high degree of accuracy
Identifies, researches, and ensures timely processing of payments and error corrections
Onboarding of new Physicians and Nurse Practitioners
Audit of claims to ensure accuracy
Provide assistance to Medical Office Assistants with claim inquires
Perform other related duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, medical billing, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 1 year experience in medical billing and coding preferred.
Working knowledge of the MSI billing system
Time management and multi tasking skills highly required
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
Knowledge of payment cycle analysis.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work as a collaborative part of a team
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Schedule:
8 hour shift
Monday to Friday

Dartmouth, NS B2W 6L4: reliably commute
