Pride Health is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist to support our client’s medical facility based in Austin, TX . This is a 6+ Month with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

 

Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist II

Location: Austin, TX 78723

Schedule: 4 days, 10 hours 9:00 pm – 7:30 am

Duration: 6+ month

Pay rate: $35 - $38 per hour

 

*The salary is determined by an individual's level of experience, as well as any relevant licenses and certifications they may hold.

**Ideal candidate has Hematology, Cerner Path Net experience.

BS Bio or Chem, BSMT, CLS, MLS, open to MLT as well.

 

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accurate processing and testing of clinical specimens, while adhering to laboratory procedures and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in high complexity testing and will work closely with a team of professionals to maintain and improve laboratory operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate specimen acceptability and perform both routine and complex laboratory tests following standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and operate laboratory instruments to ensure accurate performance and timely diagnostics.
  • Analyze test results and make informed technical decisions to support quality patient care.
  • Prepare, test, and validate reagents or controls; accurately report results in a timely manner.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance, quality control procedures, and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Replenish supplies at testing stations and assist with specimen processing as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with the laboratory team and demonstrate adaptability across shifts or workloads.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Solid understanding of basic laboratory testing procedures.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to multiple laboratory computer systems.
  • Knowledge of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with clients or other departments.
  • Ability to always maintain patient confidentiality.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology (preferred) or related field (Chemistry, Biology), or associate’s degree in a Laboratory Science/Medical Technology.
  • For foreign-educated candidates, a credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation) is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in high-complexity testing is preferred, or a bachelor’s in chemistry/biology with experience in clinical laboratory settings.
  • National certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is preferred (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
