The Freight Brokerage Carrier Sales Representative will be responsible for sourcing transportation providers and providing tracking updates as needed to support customer requests. Develop a carrier coverage strategy and have full autonomy for supporting a customer's truckload & LTL coverage needs. Directly engage with Account Executives, Shipment Management Associates (SMA) and Business Development Managers as needed to build a network of service providers that allows them the ability to foster an effective carrier network to support any and all freight transportation needs that a customer desires. Essential Functions include tender accept/reject loads, creating loads, setting appointments, dispatching, tracking and tracing loads, root cause problem solving issues, and resolving/communicating to carrier and/or customer as appropriate. Identifies and develops relationships with transportation providers to ensure adequate coverage to maximize penetration of customer freight portfolio through soliciting capacity. Manages day-to-day planning and scheduling of coverage for loads to ensure all customer's needs are met in the agreed upon time period. Additional responsibilities include continuous improvement in all segments of the business, scheduling and dispatching while ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, timely updating of load statuses to the TMS, maintaining a positive employee related climate and customer satisfaction index at a World Class Level with availability 24/7/365, and performing other duties as assigned. Skills and abilities required include representing the company professionally, building strong customer relationships, demonstrated customer service capabilities, effective leadership, strong communication skills, problem solving, flexibility, multi-tasking, competitive nature, negotiation skills, detailed orientation, and working knowledge of Transportation Industry, carrier modes & services, and basic Supply Chain design and functionality. Qualifications include H.S. diploma/GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business Administration or related field, three (3) years or more business experience required, and demonstrated PC skills in MS Access, Excel, Word with understanding of SMS legacy system and customer product and distribution requirements.
