Job Description
Triumph Construction is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the execution of heavy civil construction projects in Bronx, NY. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in heavy civil construction, with expertise in managing aspects such as utilities, concrete, structural steel, and relevant experience working with agencies such as DOT, MTA, DDC, and DDP. Working under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating project activities, ensuring timely and quality project delivery, and supporting the overall management of the project lifecycle.
Requirements
Assist the Project Manager in overseeing the full project lifecycle for heavy civil construction projects, including planning, execution, and closeout.
Coordinate and manage project tasks related to utilities, concrete, structural steel, and other heavy civil components, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and project standards.
Serve as the liaison between the project team, subcontractors, and stakeholders such as DOT, MTA, DDC, and other regulatory agencies, ensuring smooth communication and adherence to government standards and procedures.
Monitor project progress and performance to ensure work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Help develop project schedules, review design documents, and track project costs while assisting with procurement and material management.
Conduct regular site visits to ensure proper execution of construction activities and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Assist in preparing and managing project documentation, including RFI (Request for Information), change orders, submittals, daily reports, meeting minutes, and project correspondence.
Coordinate subcontractor activities, ensuring they meet project requirements and deadlines, while supporting the resolution of technical or operational issues on-site.
Work closely with the project management team to identify potential risks and issues, proposing solutions and implementing corrective actions.
Support the enforcement of safety protocols and ensure all construction activities are performed in line with OSHA and company safety standards.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with direct involvement in projects related to utilities, concrete, and structural steel.
Experience working with or managing projects under agencies like DOT, MTA, DDC, or similar public agencies.
Strong understanding of construction practices, techniques, standards, and regulations, particularly in heavy civil construction.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in construction project management software such as Procore, Primavera, MS Project, or equivalent tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under the supervision of the Project Manager.
Knowledge of safety regulations and construction site safety management.
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to project sites as required.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with government contracts and understanding of regulatory compliance in public sector construction projects.
Familiarity with design-build contracts and value engineering principles.
Professional certifications such as EIT, PMP, or CCM are an asset.
