The Accounting Officer (Specialist) is responsible for performing professional accounting duties, which requires an understanding of the entire accounting process. The incumbent will provide support to the Fiscal Systems Unit (FSU) in areas such as the maintenance and operation of the Department of Developmental Services’ (DDS) California State Accounting and Reporting System [Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal)] for Headquarters, Developmental Centers and State-Operated Facilities.
This position is eligible to participate in DDS’ hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS’ guidelines.

Working Conditions Open-spaced partitioned office, Computer will be used daily approximately 60%-70% of the time on the FI$Cal Accounting System and various software applications (i.e., Microsoft Excel and Word). Must be able to use various office machines: computer, copier, scanner, etc. During peak times including year-end processing, request for leave will be limited and approved on a case-by-case basis. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and may require excess hours to be worked. Work pre-approved overtime when necessary to meet deadlines.

Department Information The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The DDS Is Located In a Modern, Sustainable And Innovative Office Building At 1215 “O” Street, Sacramento, California. Some Amenities Of The Building Include:
